Note to Obama: Congress is not “dysfunctional”. Â YOU are! Â What you call “gridlock” we call “constitutional checks and balances”.
Our founders designed the separation of powers in our federal government precisely for such a time as this, for such a tyrant as you. Â It’s working precisely as it’s supposed to.
Now congress needs to assert the power of the Legislative Branch to not only stand in Obama’s way, but push back forcefully on unconstitutional power grabs like this.
President Barack Obama told an audience in Nevada on Monday that he will be regularly announcing “executive actions†his administration will take to “heal the economy†without the “dysfunctional†Congress.
“I’m here to say to all of you and to say to the people of Nevada and the people of Las Vegas, we can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will,†Obama said.
“I’ve told my administration to keep looking every single day for actions we can take without Congress, steps that can save consumers money, make government more efficient and responsive, and help heal the economy. And we’re going to be announcing these executive actions on a regular basis,†the president said.
“Efficient and responsive.” Â Translation: able to move an agenda quickly forward without the hassle of dealing with the will of the people and their representatives. Â Don’t forget that in his January State of the Union speech, Obama promised to:
merge, consolidate, and reorganize the federal government in a way that best serves the goal of a more competitive America.
That was the scariest line in the whole speech. DAMN SCARY.  Instead of eliminating unconstitutional agencies, programs and departments, let’s centralize, centralize!  That whole “separation of powers†thing is getting in the way of “progress“.
